Responsibilities of the Editor included:

  • initiating and finalising all clinical content, in particular imaging pathways and information for consumers
  • chairing the Editorial Panel
  • convening Expert Panels
  • supervising the Research Registrar
  • initiating the development of evidence-based pathways for diagnostic imaging and pathology requests (Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology Pathways, DIAPP)
  • defining the functionality of systems such as IREDS and DIP Apps for handheld devices
  • assisting with an audit of the impact of DIP utilisation on requesting practice in the Emergency Department of RPH
  • collaborating with the Clinical Priority Access Criteria team in the HDWA aiming to improve referral and communication processes between referrers and specialist hospital outpatient services, in particular ensuring that patients had appropriate diagnostic imaging prior to their first outpatient appointment
  • marketing DIP nationally and internationally including presentations at conferences, participation in workshops and education programmes, and publishing
  • negotiating with the RCR to achieve collaboration in the production of referral guidelines
  • negotiating with RANZCR for funds and academic support
  • negotiating with the Commonwealth Department of Health for funds
  • negotiating with the bureaucracy of HWDA and RPH to achieve and maintain support for DIP
